This antibody targets the lipoteichoic acid (LTA) which is a major cell wall component of gram positive bacteria. LTA plays an important role in the initiation and progression of bacterial infection, inflammation, and septic shock.

The original antibody was generated by immunizing mice with conjugates of lipoteichoic acid of Staphylococcus aureus.
Application Notes
This antibody shows high opsonic acitivty against S. aureus type 5 and S. epidermidis strain Hay, killing 95% of S. epidermidis and an average of 82% of S. aureus at 200 [mu]g/ml. The binding activity of A120 to LTA was confirmed with ELISA.
