From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
This antribody is specific for the G2 domain of nidogen-1. It binds in such a way that it is able to stop the binding of nidogen to laminin. Nidogen-1 is a sulfated glycoprotein widely distributed in basement membranes and tightly associated with laminin. Also binds to collagen IV and perlecan. It probably has a role in cell-extracellular matrix interactions.
Alternative Names
Nidogen-1; Nid1; Entactin; NID-1
UniProt

Immunogen
This antibody was raised by immunizing a rat with he G2 region of mouse nidogen that is able to block its binding to laminin.
Application Notes
The binding of the mouse version of this antibody to nidogen-1 was proven by ELISA. Further, high binding affinity of the mouse version of this antibody to nidogen-1 was demonstrated using surface plasmon resonance (Ries et al, 2001; pmid:11589703). To compare nidogen-1 to nidogen-2 in their ability to bind basement membrane components, tissues from embryotic and adult mice were stained using the mouse version of this antibody to be used for immunohistochemistry (Salmivirta et al, 2002; pmid:12243745).
