Specificity
This antibody is specific for p130/CAS amino acids 576 to 796 and recognizes rat, mouse and human homologs. P130cas is a docking protein which plays a central coordinating role for tyrosine-kinase- based signaling related to cell adhesion (By similarity). Implicated in induction of cell migration and cell branching (By similarity). Involved in the BCAR3-mediated inhibition of TGFB signaling (By similarity).

Immunogen
The original mouse version of this antibody was raised by immunizing a mosue with a GST fusion protein corresponding to residues 576-796 of rat p130 Cas.
Application Notes
The function of CAS in cell signaling was researched. For this a western blot was preformed on rat and murine fibroblasts, as well as human osteosarcoma, and COS-7 cells using the murine version of this antibody (Bouton and Burnham, 1997; pmid:9388023). Furthermore with the same goal CE cells were immunostained using the mouse version of this antibody (Bouton and Burnham, 1997; pmid:9388023). Immunoblotting was preformed on NIH3T3 cells using the mouse version of this antibody. This was done to research FAK phosphorylation (Lim et al, 2004; pmid:15123632). To assay the effect of PTP-PEST overexpression the mouse version of this antibody was used for immunoblotting on Bosc23 cells transfected with the gene encoding full-length human PTP-PEST (Garton and Tonks, 1999; pmid:9920935). In a study on CRKII as a possible target for cancer gene terapy the murine version of this antibody was used for immunoblotting on a human OSCC cell line (Yamada et al, 2011; pmid:21339045).
