Specificity
This antibody is specific for an epitope within domain 1 of porcine VCAM, which is expressed on activated endothelial cells. It des not cross-react with human VCAM.

Immunogen
This antibody was raised by immunising BALB/c mice with a recombinant secreted form of porcine VCAM.
Application Notes
The ability of this antibody to recognise porcine VCAM has been confirmed in ELISA analysis (Mueller et al, 1995). In FC analysis, this antibody reacts with porcine VCAM on TNF-a stimulated porcine aortic endothelial cells, but not to human VCAM on TNF-a stimulated human umbilical vein endothelial cells (Mueller et al, 1995). This antibody blocks VLA-4 dependent adhesion of peripheral blood human T cells to activated porcine aortic endothelial cells (Mueller et al, 1995). It also inhibits the binding of Ramos cells to a recombinant secreted form of porcine VCAM (Mueller et al, 1995).
