Specificity
This antibody binds B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) 5‐13 (VQGSGAFGR). BNP is a naturally secreted cardiac regulatory hormone that influences blood pressure and vascular water retention in human physiology. The plasma BNP concentration is a clinically recognized biomarker for various cardiovascular diseases.

Immunogen
The original mouse antibody was generated by immunizing mice with human BNP peptide 5- 13 (VQGSGAFGR) conjugated with BSA.
Application Notes
This antibody can be used for the detection of human BNP using ELISA (PMID: 18606632). This antibody when crosslinked to POROS XL ID resin can also be used in the immunoprecipitation of BNP from plasma samples of patients with chronic heart failure (PMID: 16750161).
