Specificity
The antibody is specific for properdin. It recognizes human, baboon, rabbit, and canine properdin, but not mouse, rat, feline or ferret properdin.

Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing mice against purified human properdin.
Application Notes
The specificity of the original format of the antibody was confirmed by ELISA analysis. The antibody detected only non-reduced properdin as evaluated by western blot analysis. The antibody inhibited AP-mediated hemolysis of rabbit erythrocytes. The ability of the antibody to inhibit the binding of properdin to C3b was tested by flow cytometry. The antibody completely impaired the binding of properdin to C3b-coated erythrocytes (ESC3b) (Chen et al. 2020; PMID: 32793201). Further, the antibody inhibited PGA formation relative to TRAP alone (Blatt et al., 2016; PMID: 27183616).
