Specificity
This antibody binds human growth hormone (HGH) which is a peptide hormone and plays an important role in growth control. Its major role in stimulating body growth is to stimulate the liver and other tissues to secrete IGF-1. It stimulates both the differentiation and proliferation of myoblasts. It also stimulates amino acid uptake and protein synthesis in muscle and other tissues.

Immunogen
The original antibody was generated from a camel immunized with recombinant fusion protein containing human growth hormone fused with superfolder green fluorescent protein (sfGFP). The antibody was isolated from an immune nanobody library generated from the peripheral blood of the immunized camel was panned against human growth hormone.
Application Notes
This antibody is capable of detecting human growth hormone in wild type format and fusion protein format with a detection sensitivity in the range of 0.5 to 10 ng/ml in sandwich ELISA. Immobilized antibody can also be used for purification of recombinant HGH from the cleavage reaction of fusion proteins with the tobaccos etch virus (TEV) protease using affinity chromatography (PMID: 24859761).
