Specificity
This antibody binds human growth hormone (HGH) at an epitope different than NbGH04. HGH is a peptide hormone and plays an important role in growth control. Its major role in stimulating body growth is to stimulate the liver and other tissues to secrete IGF-1. It stimulates both the differentiation and proliferation of myoblasts. It also stimulates amino acid uptake and protein synthesis in muscle and other tissues.

Immunogen
The original antibody was generated from a camel immunized with recombinant fusion protein containing human growth hormone fused with superfolder green fluorescent protein (sfGFP). The antibody was isolated from an immune nanobody library generated from the peripheral blood of the immunized camel was panned against NbGH04-captured human growth hormone.
Application Notes
This antibody can be used in a sandwich ELISA for the detection of human growth hormone. NbGH04 is used as a capture antibody and NbGH07 fused to the tip of M13 phage or biotinylated forms of NbGH07 is used as a detection antibody (PMID: 28611730).
