Specificity
This antibody binds Staphylococcus aureus cells. This bacterium is frequently found in the human respiratory tract and on the skin. Although S. aureus is not always pathogenic, it is a common cause of skin infections (e.g., boils), respiratory disease (e.g., sinusitis), and food poisoning. It has demonstrated an exceptional capacity to acquire resistance to antibacterial agents. MRSA refers to a subgroup of Staph. aureus that is resistant to a range of β-lactam antibiotics such as methicillin.

The original antibody was generated by immunizing a chicken with inactivated Staphylococcus aureus cells (CVCC 545 strain).
Application Notes
This antibody can be used for the detection of S aureus in a sample using ELISA. In vitro, this antibody demonstrated good anti-bacterial activity with was comparable to penicillin and streptomycin, and its antibacterial effect is stable (CN104961826).
