From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
The antibody binds testosterone and shows reasonably low cross-reaction (~11.6%) with 5a- dihydrotestosterone, androstenedione and ~1% cross reaction with dehydroepiandrosteronesulphate (DHEAS). Testosterone is the primary sex hormone and anabolic steroid in males.
Alternative Names

UniProt
Immunogen
The original mouse version of this antibody was raised by immunizing mice with a testosterone-3-carboxymethyloxime-thyroglobulin conjugate.
Application Notes
The original mouse IgG2b version of this antibody binds testosterone with an affinity of 0.3 nM. The binding properties of the antibody was preliminarily characterized by a competitive enzyme- linked immunosorbent assay. The combined (44 + 28) mutant derived from this antibody showed less cross- reactivity towards DHEAS of 0.033%, 44-fold less than in the wild-type (Hemminki et al, 1998; pmid:9680193). The combined mutant is available on request. To elucidate the structure of the mouse version of this antibody bound to testosterone x-ray crystallography was performed (Valjakka et al, 2002; pmid:11707437).
