Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody specific for the intracellular domain of human CD79b. CD79b is required in tandem with CD79A for initiation of the signal transduction cascade induced by the B-cell antigen receptor complex which leads to internalization of the complex, trafficking to late endosomes and antigen presentation. |
Alternative Name | B-cell antigen receptor complex-associated protein beta chain; CD79B; B- cell-specific glycoprotein B29; Ig-beta; Immunoglobulin-associated B29 protein |
UniProt | |
Immunogen | The rat version of this antibody was raised by immunizing a mouse with the intracellular domain of CD79B. |
Application Notes | To study chronic lymphocytic leukemia, immunohistochemistry was performed on tissues from patients with CLL or RT using the rat version of this antibody (Allan et al, 2019). Tissue from non-Hodgkin lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia patients was stained for immunohistochemistry using the rat version of this antibody to create an antibody–drug conjugate consisting of a humanized anti- CD79b antibody that is conjugated to monomethylauristatin E. This construct is supposed to help the patients with these forms of cancer (Dornan et al, 2009; pmid:19633198). To investigate anti CD79b clone DCDS0780A as a possible therapeutic agent against B-NHL, immunohistochemistry was performed on tissues from B-NHL patients that had relapsed after or failed to respond to at least one prior treatment regimen using the rat version of this antibody (Herrera et al, 2022; pmid:34980599). |
Antibody First Published | Dornan et al. Therapeutic potential of an anti-CD79b antibody-drug conjugate, anti-CD79b-vc-MMAE, for the treatment of non-Hodgkin lymphoma Blood. 2009 Sep 24;114(13):2721-9. PMID:19633198 |
Note on publication | An antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) consisting of a humanized anti-CD79b antibody that is conjugated to monomethylauristatin E was created. |
