Immunogen | Human LTC4. |
Application Notes | The antibody binds specifically to LTC4, a member of eicosanoid inflammatory mediators synthesised from arachidonic acid by arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase. LTC4 is a cysteynyl- leukotriene, and acts at the cell-surface receptors CysLT1 and CysLT2, which are both G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) involved in human bronchial asthma. LTC4 is responsible for increasing airway responsiveness to histamine in asthmatic patients, and antibodies that block this activity can be used in the treatment of inflammatory diseases such as asthma, and to inhibit platelet aggregation. |
