Application Notes
The antibody binds specifically to the monoclonal antibody 763.74. The 763.74 antibody has neutralising activity against HMW-MAA, a cell surface proteoglycan expressed on more than 90% of melanomas, which has been shown to contribute to the malignant transformation of cancer cells by inducing their invasion, growth and migration. The anti-idiotypic monoclonal antibody MK2-23 mimics HMW_x0002_MAA in the binding to 763.67, and can thereby increase the level of antibody production against the antigen in patients with the melanoma. This induces a humoral immune response which has caused the regression of melanomas in some patients and can prolong their survival.
