Specificity
This antibody is specific for the extracellular domain of human recombinant transmembranetruncated (DTM) αvβ5 integrin, a dimeric cell surface protein that mediates cell attachment. αvβ5 integrin is also involved in tumour growth and angiogenesis.

This antibody was raised by immunising rabbits, isolating B cells from the immunised rabbits and fusing these with a rabbit plasmacytoma cell line (established by Spieker-Polet et al., 1995) to produce stable hybridomas
Application Notes
This antibody has been used to specifically bind αvβ5 in Western blots and in flow cytometry (Goodman et al, 2012), revealing that cell lines HT29 and A549 strongly express αvβ5, with lower levels of expression by the M21 and M24 lines. This antibody also specifically stains αvβ5 in FFPE (formalin fixed paraffin while murine antibodies are typically unable to detect FFPE-embedded integrins. embedded)/TMA material (Goodman et al, 2012; Heß et al., 2014; Roth et l, 2013),
