Specificity
The antibody is specific for CD44. CD44 is a transmembrane protein belonging to a hyaladherin family. It is a hyaluronic acid receptor. The CD44 molecule is expressed in almost all the cells and tissues. However, in general, it is not expressed in the platelet, liver cell, cardiac muscle, uridiferous tubule epithelium, testis, and skin.

The original antibody was isolated by panning a phage display library against CD44.
Application Notes
The IgG1 format of the antibody specifically bound to the cancer cells expressing CD- 44 (PC-14) and expresses the ADCC activity (US9388249B2).
