Specificity
This antibody is specific for the a fragment of complement factor B. It reacts both with the glycosilated and the deglycosilated form of Ba. The epitope recognized by this antibody is destroyed by carboxypeptidase. Factor B which is part of the alternate pathway of the complement system is cleaved by factor D into 2 fragments

This antibody was raised by immunizing BALB/c-mice with Ba-20C/BSA. The Ba-20C peptide has the sequence CETIEGVDAEDGHGPGEQQKR.
Application Notes
The mouse version of this antibody was successfully used to specifically quantitate the 34 kDa form of the Ba-fragment an ELISA was preformed on the 34kDa fragment of Ba (Oppermann and Götze, 1994; pmid：8139584).

To better characterize the activation products of factor B which are generated under physiologic conditions Ba was purified directly from human EDTA-plasma by immunoaffinity chromatography using anti-Ba Sepharose.
