From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
This antibody recognizes E cadherin which is one of the most important molecules in cell-cell adhesion in epithelial tissues. It is localized on the surfaces of epithelial cells in regions of cell-cell contact known as adherens junctions. The 4A2 monoclonal antibody recognizes the cytoplasmic domain of E- cadherin. The epitope has been mapped to residues 757–778.

Immunogen
The original mouse IgG1 version of this antibody was raised by immunizing mice with the recombinant maltose binding protein fused to full length human E-Cadherin.
Application Notes
4A2 antibody has been widely used for identification and analysis of E cadherin. The original mouse IgG1 version was used to detect the intracellular domain of E cadherin in A431 or A431-E- cad-M cells (Nieman et al., 1999; pmid: 10212155). It was also demonstrated that this antibody can detect E cadherin on Western blots (Li et al., 2019; pmid: 31245295). Similarly, 4A2 antibody was also utilized to immunoprecipitate E cadherin from LNCaP and C4-2 cell extracts (Jaggi et al., 2005; pmid: 15695390).
