Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with Venezuelan equine encephalitis (VEE) virus replicons encoding the Ebola glycoprotein from the Mayinga isolate of the Zaire strain of Ebola virus.
Application Notes
The specificity of the original version of this antibody (mouse IgG2a) was validated via ELISA, IF, RIPA, and WB. In in vitro plaque reduction assays, this antibody achieved 80% plaque reduction at a concentration as low as 6.25 µg/ml. In in vivo experiments with mice and guinea pigs, 6D8 demonstrated protective effects when administered before or shortly after viral exposure (Wilson et al., 2000; PMID: 10698744) (US6875433B2).
