Specificity
This antibody is specific for Estradiol-17β. Estradiol-17β is an estrogen steroid hormone and the major female sex hormone. It is involved in the regulation of the estrous and menstrual female reproductive cycles.

This antibody was raised by immunizing a female balb/c mouse with immunogenic Estradiol- 17β-BSA conjugate.
Application Notes
The scFv version of this antibody is capable of binding E2-7-BSA in an ELISA. A radioimmunoassay was performed using E2 standard and E2 with [H3] using the mouse version and the scFv version of this antibody. Finally the association and dissociation rate were determined using surface plasmon resonance on E2-7-BSA using both the mouse version and the scFv version of this antibody (Kobayashi et al, 2008; pmid:18824188) (Kobayashi et al, 2010; pmid:20047279).

A single-chain Fv fragment (scFv) against estradiol-17beta (E(2)) was generated to begin the construction of a library of various mutated anti-steroid antibodies with an improved affinity and/or specificity.
