Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
This antibody is specific for the amino acid residues 284-310 of human estrogen receptor (hER- α36). The estrogen receptor is a nuclear hormone receptor. The steroid hormones and their receptors are involved in the regulation of eukaryotic gene expression and affect cellular proliferation and differentiation in target tissues. Ligand-dependent nuclear transactivation involves either direct homodimer binding to a palindromic estrogen response element (ERE) sequence or association with other DNA-binding transcription factors, such as AP-1/c-Jun, c-Fos, ATF-2, Sp1 and Sp3, to mediate ERE-independent signaling.

Immunogen
This antibody was generated from a phage display library constructed from normal human lymph cells using scFv expression vectors. The scFv antibody was isolated by panning the library against a target peptide comprising amino acid residues 284-310 of human estrogen receptor (hER-α36).
Application Notes
To characterize the binding of this antibody an ELISA was performed against biotinylated ERα36 using the scFv version. The scFv version of this antibody can also recognize human ERα36 in a western blot assay. And to identify the therapeutic advantages of this antibody, BCAP-37 tumors were implanted in balb/c nude mice after which the scFv version of this antibody was administered. The tumor sizes showed a significant difference with the control group (US20110311517).
