From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
This antibody binds the A2 domain of the human factor VIII, a glycoprotein involved in blood coagulation. Factor VIII acts as a cofactor for factor IXa which converts factor X to the activated form Xa in the presence of calcium and phospholipids. Defects in the F8 gene, which encodes Factor VIII, result in the coagulation disorder hemophilia A.
Alternative Names
AHF; FVIII; A2 domain; Factor 8; anti-hemophilic factor; Coagulation factor VIII; procoagulant component
UniProt
P00451
Immunogen
The original antibody was generated from the peripheral blood lymphocytes obtained from a hemophilia patient.
Application Notes
The binding specificity and epitope characterization of this antibody was determined using ELISA. The ability of this antibody inhibit factor VIII function in vitro was studied using a chromogenic functional assay. It was reported that this antibody inhibited the conversion of factor X to factor Xa at concentration of 0.1 μg/ml. It was found that this antibody inhibits thrombin production using both the intrinsic and extrinsic pathway of coagulation (US20080206254).
