Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
This antibody is specific for the flagellin protein (FliC) of Salmonella enterica, which plays a pivotal role in bacterial motility and pathogenicity. FliC is the main structural component of the bacterial flagella in Salmonella enterica, tail-like structures essential for bacterial movement and invasion of host tissues. Targeting FliC can potentially neutralize the pathogen by hindering its motility, thus preventing its invasion of host cells. Additionally, antibodies against FliC may facilitate bacterial recognition and elimination by the host immune system, aiding in the clearance of the bacteria from the body.
Alternative Names

Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing alpacas with heat-inactivated Salmonella cells.
Application Notes
The original version of this antibody (alpaca VHH) exhibited significant inhibition of bacterial motility and growth in S. enterica strain 4904. In motility assays, the antibody reduced the diameter of bacterial growth circles compared to controls. Furthermore, in cell proliferation assays, the antibody inhibited Salmonella growth, as indicated by reduced optical density at 600 nm after 18 hours of incubation (US10421806B2).
