Recombinant Antibody

This antibody is specific for GFP.
Alternative Names
Green fluorescent protein; GFP Binding Protein 1; Enhancer

Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing an alpaca with GFP.
Application Notes
The Enhancer (Enh) anti-GFP nanobody, also known as GFP binding protein 1 (GBP1), was specifically used for manipulating protein conformation in vitro and in vivo; this nanobody caused a fourfold fluorescence enhancement by stabilizing the deprotonated, negatively charged state of the GFP chromophore, resulting in increased fluorescence intensity (Kirchhofer et al., 2010; PMID: 20010839).

Note on publication
The original publication explores the use of camelid-derived nanobodies to modulate the conformation and spectral properties of green fluorescent protein (GFP) in living cells, revealing the potential for manipulating and studying protein conformations using nanobodies.
