Cat. No.
MABL-1693
Application
in vivo, SPR
Isotype
Engineer antibody
Species Reactivity
Human
Clone No.
5A1
From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
The antibody recognises ghrelin. Ghrelin is a hormone produced by enteroendocrine cells of the gastrointestinal tract, especially the stomach and is often called a "hunger hormone" because it increases the drive to eat.
Alternative Names
GHRL; MTLRP; Appetite-regulating hormone; Growth hormone secretagogue; Growth hormone-releasing peptide; Motilin-related peptide; Protein M46

Application Notes
The kinetic constant of the humanized, affinity matured Fab version of the antibody was measured by KinExA (Kd= 1 pM). The binding affinity of the Fab fragment to Ghrelin was measured by surface plasmon resonance (Kd= 2 pM). Rats were injected with human ghrelin and their food consumption was measured. Results showed that if the humanized Fab version of the antibody was administrated, their food consumption was effectively reduced (US7479271).
