Specificity
The antibody binds specifically to chicken IL-15, a cytokine with structural similarity to interleukin-2, another T cell growth factor important in the regulation of cell-mediated immunity. The antibody did not react with IL-2 or IFN-y.

The original antibody was raised by immunising BALB/c mice with IL-15.
Application Notes
The specificity of this antibody (IgG2b) was confirmed in ELISA analysis. The antibody detected the recombinant chIL-15 by western blot analysis. Further, the antibody inhibited the IL-15-induced proliferation of splenic lymphoblast cells in a dose-dependent manner, when used at 20 mg/ml, the antibody inhibited proliferation by 56.7% (Min et al, 2002; pmid: 12088644).
