Specificity
This antibody binds human IL-8 and specifically recognizes an epitope containing amino acids sequence 'ELRCQCIKTYSK'. Interleukin-8 is a chemotactic factor that attracts neutrophils, basophils, and T- cells, but not monocytes. It is also involved in neutrophil activation. It is released from several cell types in response to an inflammatory stimulus.

The original antibody was generated by immunizing cohorts of XMG2 XENOMOUSE® transgenic mice with recombinant human Interleukin-8 (rhIL-8).
Application Notes
This antibody binds human interleukin 8 with a very high affinity of Kd = 0.06 pM. The binding characterization of this antibody was done using ELISA (PMID: 16038881; US20140105905).
