Clone No.
E1
From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
Gangliosides are glycosphingolipids expressed on the cell surface membranes of most mammalian cell types. In ELISA experiments E1 showed a highly-restricted binding specificity, detecting only GM2 (not GM1 or GM3). The antibody recognises only the N-acetylneuraminic acid deratives of gangliosides; no N-glycolylneuraminic acid derivatives were recognised.
Alternative Names
UniProt
Immunogen
The antibody was generated by injecting BALB/c mice with GM2 ganglioside incorporated into liposomes.
Application Notes
ELISA demonstrated E1 has a highly-restricted binding specificity, binding only to GM2. IHC studies showed positivity with E1 in primary lung carcinomas, but no reactivity with corresponding normal tissues (Alfonso et al, 1995).
