Specificity
The antibody is specific for VEEV. The antibody detects the subtype I strains TC83, TRD, 3880, P676, subtype III strain Mucambo, and subtype V strain Cabassou. The antibody does not cross-react with BHK21, EEE (Eastern equine encephalitis), WEE (Western equine encephalitis), and SLE (St. Louis encephalitis).

The phage display library expressing single-chain antibodies (scFv) was produced from a hybridoma cell line. The library was panned against VEE virus to select for specific scFvs.
Application Notes
The specificity of the original format of the antibody was confirmed by ELISA analysis (Duggan et al, 2001; pmid:11572636).
