Specificity
The antibody reacts exclusively with vimentin, which is expressed in mesenchymal cells and mesenchymal derived tumors e.g. lymphoma, sarcoma and melanoma.

Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing a BALB/c mouse with a cytoskeletal vimentin extract of calf lens.
Application Notes
The antibody detected vimentin by western blot analysis. This antibody was used for vimentin detection on rabbit embryo, dermatome, myotome (adjacent abdominal wall) and the genital ridge (comprising mesonephric blastema and mesonephric duct) by immunohistochemistry (Viebahn et al., 1988; PMID: 2460241). The original antibody detected vimentin on HeLa cells transfected with pRSVDes by immunohistochemistry (Raats et al., 1990; PMID: 1699950).
