Specificity
This antibody binds the human vimentin. Vimentins are class-III intermediate filaments found in various non-epithelial cells, especially mesenchymal cells. Vimentin is attached to the nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, and mitochondria, either laterally or terminally.

Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing an alpaca with recombinant human vimentin.
Application Notes
This antibody can be used for identification of human vimentin using ELISA. A chromobody (nanobody fused with fluorescent protein) generated using this antibody was used for internal tracing of vimentin in various cellular assays. ATTO488 labelled version of this antibody can be used for the immunofluorescent detection of vimentin in MDCK cells. The ATTO488 labelled bivalent dimer version of this antibody (VB6-VB6ATTO488) was also usefully in detection of vimentin in western blot. This antibody was reported to bind human vimentin with a binding affinity of 37 nM (PMID: 26292717).
