Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing a dromedary with bovine erythrocytecarbonic anhydrase. A phage display library was constructed and the antibody was selected by panning.
Application Notes
The crystal structures of a the VHH antibody both as free antibody (Decanniere et al., 2000; PMID: 10864500 and Desmyter et al. 2000; PMID: 11342547) and in complex with its antigen (Desmyter et al., 2000; PMID: 11342547) were determined. The VHH antibody recognized the bovine erythrocyte carbonic anhydrase with an affinity of 72 nM (Kd) (Desmyter et al., 2000; PMID: 11342547). The antibody did not inhibit the enzymatic activity of the antigen (Desmyter et al., 2000; PMID: 11342547 and Lauwereys et al., 1998; PMID: 9649422).
