MABL-1040
Application
WB, IHC
Isotype
Engineer antibody
Species Reactivity
Human
Clone No.
123C3
From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
This antibody is specific for human CD56. CD56, is a homophilic binding glycoprotein expressed on the surface of neurons, glia and skeletal muscle. Although CD56 is often considered a marker of neural lineage commitment due to its discovery site, CD56 expression is also found in, among others, the hematopoietic system.
Alternative Names
Neural cell adhesion molecule 1; NCAM1; N-CAM-1; NCAM-1
UniProt

Immunogen
The mouse version of this antibody was raised by immunizing a BALB/c mouse with human small cell lung cancer membrane fraction.
Application Notes
To immunophenotype proliferating cells in 21 cases with PR, immunohistochemistry was performed on human necrotic granulomatous lesions using the mouse version of this antibody. The antibody stained NK cells (Ohsawa et al, 1999; pmid:10362131). To examine hypermethylation of RASSF1A and p16 and viral infection of SV40 and MCPyV in SCLC and controls, immunohistochemistry was performed on human small cell lung cancer using the mouse version of this antibody (Helmbold et al, 2009; pmid:19473831). To study the role of CD56 in CIK-mediated cytotoxicity, western blotting was used on PMBCs with the mouse version of this antibody (Valgardsdottir et al, 2014; pmid:25201755). To create a detailed analysis of the origin, phenotype, and function of endometrial NK cells, immunohistochemistry was performed on endometrial tissues using the mouse version of this antibody (Manaster et al, 2008; pmid:18641324). To determine the morphological and immunophenotypic features of aggressive natural killer (NK) cell leukaemia, immunohistochemistry was performed on lymph nodes from aggressive natural killer (NK) cell leukaemia patients using the mouse version of this antibody (Morij et al, 2000; pmid:11012744).

Note on publication
In this study, immunophenotypes and genotypes of proliferating cells in 21 cases with PR were examined. The patients included 13 men and 8 women ranging in age from 20 to 74 (median 37) years. All patients presented with lesions in the upper respiratory tract, mostly in the nasal cavity.
