This antibody binds horse cytochrome c. This antibody recognizes three major discontiguous segments (33 to 39; 56 to 66; 96 to 104), and two minor sites on cyt c opposite to the exposed haem edge (PMID： 9698550).

The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with horse cytochrome c (cyt c) conjugated to hemocyanin.
Application Notes
The original mouse IgG1 version of this antibody binds horse cytochrome c with an affinity of Kd ≃ 10(−9) M (PMID： 2993413). A solid phase radioimmunoassay was used to identify the specific epitope that the antibody binds (PMID： 2454225). The structural mechanism involved in the binding of the IgG1 antibody E8 to its highly charged protein antigen horse cytochrome c (cyt c) was studied using crystallographic structures (PMID： 9698550).
