Specificity | The antibody binds an epitope on sulfatase-2 polypeptide. |
Alternative Name | Extracellular sulfatase Sulf-2; hSulf-2; Surf-2 |
UniProt | Q8IWU5 |
Immunogen | The original antibody was generated by immunizing sulf2 null mice with recombinant human SULF2. |
Application Notes | This antibody was used for detection of Sulphatase-2 (SULF2), an extracellular sulfatase that acts on heparan sulfate proteoglycans and modulates multiple signaling pathways. The specificity of the monoclonal antibody was evaluated by ELISA, while sandwich ELISA was employed to detect the presence of SULF2 in blood and quantified its level.(PMID: 25444749) 8G1 reacted with the 75 kDa subunit of Sulf-2 and its 125 kDa proprotein precursor but not Sulf-1 by western blotting. s. The antibody was tested for its ability to revert the malignant phenotype of lung cancer cells (H292 cell line) in culture. The antibody markedly slow the growth of these cells on plastic dishes. 8G1 was tested for its effects on the growth of human lung cancer cells as xenograft tumors in immunocompromised host mice (nude mice), the antibody produced a marked inhibition of tumor size with time and in the final tumor weight (WO2012106192). |

Note on publication | The paper describes the use of Sulphatase-2 (SULF2) as a serologic biomarker for liver cirrhosis. |
